Starting and finishing in Guildford, this run features some of the best scenery in the Surrey Hills, including the wonderful St Martha's church and hill, the problem is, you won't see much of it! My Surrey Hills Night Run is aimed at those people that want to experience the thrill of running along deserted trails in total darkness, with only our head torches leading the way.
This run is perfect for those new to night running, who may be training for an ultra that will lead them into the night, or simply to those that haven't felt comfortable running into the woods alone.
You will be guided by myself, an experienced ultra runner, running coach and Salomon athlete. You don't need to worry about where you are going or the route we will take, I will take care of everything so all you need to do is concentrate on running and having fun.
Pace: This is not a race! We will run as a group and share this experience together. You should be able to run between 10-11 min/miles and have a good level of fitness. First timers encouraged!
Kit: A full kit list will be provided but you will need a head torch and spare batteries. I have Salomon Sense Ride and Speedcross 4 trail shoes available to test, please state your size during registration if interested.
Don't own a torch? Don't worry, I have a fantastic range of head torches for you to try.
Getting there: Guildford has excellent transport links by both car and train. Full details will be provided.
"Although I'd run some of this route several times, to take it on in the dark of mid-winter under Matt's reassuring guidance was probably the best Saturday night I've had in a while! Like to think I'm a more confident runner for it - sign me up for the next one."
