Explore the Stunning Trails of the Surrey Hills, a designated Area of Natural Beauty, from St Martha's Hill.
Discover the breathtaking beauty of the Surrey Hills with our 10km guided trail run, starting near Guildford. This scenic route begins with a climb up St Martha's Hill, where you'll be rewarded with panoramic views from the hilltop church.
From there, the adventure continues to Newlands Corner, offering more incredible vistas as we gaze south across Surrey's rolling hills and beyond. After a moment to soak it all in, we'll descend toward the historic Pilgrims Way, passing through the picturesque Tillingbourne Valley and the fascinating Chilworth Gunpowder Mill.
Finally, a short ascent brings us back to the starting point, where we'll say our goodbyes, leaving you with unforgettable memories of this stunning trail experience. Join us for an unforgettable journey through one of Surrey's most beautiful landscapes!
This run is perfect for people new to trail running, runners who simply like to run with like minded people, or those that haven't felt comfortable running trails alone at dusk or night.

meet your guideI’m Matt Buck, a Salomon and Suunto Ambassador, experienced trail and ultra runner, mountain leader, qualified guide, and coach.
I’ve tackled some of the toughest races and challenges around the world. I'm passionate about trail running and love sharing stories, guidance and advice with my clients. You don't need to worry about where you are going or the route we will take, I will take care of everything so all you need to do is concentrate on running and having fun. |
Pace: This is not a race! We will run as a group and share this experience together. You should be able to comfortably run an average pace of 10 min/miles | 6 min/km for prolonged periods of time on the trail, and have a suitable level of fitness.

Kit: A full kit list will be provided, I have Silva head torches for the evening run, as well as Salomon trail shoes available to test.

Getting there: Guildford has excellent transport links by both car and train. Full details will be provided.

"My friend and I really enjoyed our Night Run with Matt. It was our first night run. We felt the pace was great - we had to push ourselves but it was a good level of challenge. Even that first hill! The stops were welcomed but not too frequent. The route was awesome. I have run those trails many times during the day but there's something atmospheric and meditative doing it at night. Although we were at the back of the pack we didn't feel pressurised to speed up and there was no judgment, just a friendly group of runners out for the same blast of endorphins! I highly recommend Running Adventures with Matt and will keep an eye out for more opportunities to join in!"
